Bridging Heritage with Modernity: Behrens Office Transformation
Behrens, Manchester’s oldest textile company with a rich history dating back to 1834, approached Oaks with a unique brief. As a leading multi-brand textiles company, Behrens wanted to update their head office with a blend of heritage and innovation. Oaks, renowned for their expertise in design and construction, was tasked with creating an attractive hanging and display area, seamlessly integrated with dividers to define meeting spaces within the office.
Design Concept:
The design concept centred around sleek and contemporary Scandinavian-style storage sections and display areas, reflecting Behrens’ dedication to timeless elegance and functionality. To maximise space and privacy, Oaks proposed the addition of powder-coated metal shelving sections above the storage units, serving as both partitions and elevated display platforms. Bespoke box planters were incorporated into the space to break up the hard surfaces.
Design Process:
Each element of the office transformation was carefully designed so that storage and display were key factors. From the sleek lines of the storage units to the powder-coated metal shelving sections, every aspect of the design was tailored. The bespoke box planters served as focal points, adding a touch of nature to the office environment.
